Since our last AGM we
as a Menter have been very busy increasing our numbers of staff,
services and Welsh Language provision throughout the County of Bridgend.
We have once more moved offices to the old School house next door
to Cynwyd Sant Welsh primary school in Maesteg, and written a 3
year strategic plan for the way ahead for the Welsh language in
Bro Ogwr.
Here is an outline of
what we have achieved over the last year.
Voluntary Sector
Asisst many organisations
including KPC youth, Cwm Garw Regeneration Forum, Aelwyd Housing
Association, GYL, Sustainable Wales to work in a more bilingual
way
Advertise our Community Translation service
Hold Bridgend Welsh Language Forum and Welsh Education Forum to
debate issues regarding the new comprehensive
Children and Young People
Youth Club at the Y.M.C.A.
every wednesday evening
Cybercafe in Hartshorn House every Thursday night
Youth club in Pyle every thursday night
After school club in Maesteg Cynwyd Sant Welsh School and in January
our first breakfast club will open
Constant trips during school holiday and after school four our Youth
club members
Sports Fun Day every summer bettween the four Welsh language primary
schools
Tracking system for young people after they have left school
Public Sector
Work closely with Bridgend
County borough council to improve their bilingual standards and
provision
Work to unite sectors in our preperation for the new school in Llangynwyd
Work closely with the Welsh Language Officer of BCBC on their Welsh
Language Scheme and the performance of various departments within
the council
Represent the voluntary sector and be a voice for Welsh Language
issues on the Community Consortia for Education and Training
Full member of the Early Years and Childcare Partnership
Private Sector
Promote our Community
translation service
Provide small businesses with packs on how to implement the Welsh
Language into their business
Circulate information on grants such as the Welsh Language Board’s
Small Grants Scheme and a “Sense Of Place” grant scheme
Marketing and publicity
Run and update www.menterbroogwr.org
Regular articles in local press
Advertise and distribute HSBC grants for learners
Organise various activities and events
