Summer Holiday Play Scheme
This summer Menter Bro Ogwr decided to hold a week’s play scheme in all Welsh schools of the County. The play schemes were popular with more children attending this year than last year. Children from all 4 schools attended which is a great success for us.
There were all sorts of things to do from arts and crafts to sports to face painting and much more.
All the children enjoyed and are looking forward to the next one.
I would like to thank all four schools for their support this summer and to the children for their good behaviour. Good community spirit!
Thanks.

Bro Ogwr Bananas Club

Clwb Bananas is an after school club in Ysgol Gynradd Gymraeg Bro Ogwr which is in its 4th year. The club is very popular with the children enjoying activities and play through the medium of Welsh. 30 children have registered with the club this year and are looking forward to attending the club weekly. The Initiative is hoping to register with CSSIW this year.
SJ and Rhys remain working at the club this year, looking after the children, creating a happy and creative atmosphere and create activities for the children to do every session. Menter Bro Ogwr hope’s that the club will be as successful this year as of previous ones.
We would like to thank the families that have used and are still using the service for your support and we are looking forward to meeting new families in the near future.
The club is open during school terms every Monday to Friday afternoon, 3.30 until 5.30pm. Contact Kathryn Campbell for further information on 01656 732200 or by

Dewin's Tour
Kathryn Campbell Services for Children and Families Officer of Menter Bro Ogwr and Kate Parry Development Officer for Mudiad Ysgolion Meithrin went on a tour with Dewin to visit the children and leaders of every Welsh medium nursery within the Borough.
The children had an opportunity to meet Dewin, sing songs, dance and have fun through the medium of Welsh.
The officers were feeling excited about the trip and were looking forward to meeting the children and adults of the County and getting new ideas on how to improve Welsh Language opportunities in the community. The trip went very well, with all the children and leaders enjoying, they were eager to hear about other projects which will be offered to them in the future.
I would like to thank Dewin for coming to visit the children of Bridgend County Borough.

A Christmas Celebration Morning

On Saturday the 11th of December, Menter Bro Ogwr held a Christmas Celebration Morning for families at Bridgend Recreational Centre.
The purpose of the event was to get the families of the County together to use their Welsh, make new friends, see what organisations within the County have on offer to them and to enjoy Christmas activities.
In total, 35 families attended the event. The children had the opportunity to jump on the bouncy castle and decorate biscuits and there were information stalls and stalls selling Christmas gifts available for the parents as well as tea and coffee.
Someone very important attended this event to see the children. Thank you Father Christmas, everyone was happy to see you.
I would like to thanks Twf and MYM for helping on the day, providing a stall and activities for everyone to take part in and providing help with the face painting. I would also like to thank everyone who attended and supported the event. I look forward to celebrating 2011.
Thanks
Kath
Summer Play Scheme 2010
The summer play Scheme went very well this year in Ysgol Gynradd Gymraeg Bro Ogwr. The Scheme was open to children 8-13 years of age. There was plenty to do i.e. arts and crafts, sports and the wii which was very popular with both children and the staff.
We went on two trips, one swimming in Trecco Bay and the other Laserquest in Swansea. The children thoroughly enjoyed swimming and having the chance to run after staff members in the Laserquest!
On the last day we celebrated with a party. Menter Bro Ogwr bought chips and a drink for the children and celebrated the afternoon with party games. We would like to thank the staff, Rhys and Sara for their help throughout the scheme and hope to see the children, staff and new faces next year.
